As a result, we are changing the climate around us, turning it into an unrecognizable extreme consisting of floods and droughts. Luckily, as our society grows, so does our technological acumen. In combating climate change, many new technologies have emerged such as better batteries, computerized management of power and electric cars. Community Mapping and Digital Storytelling: Implementing the SDGS
Expand your horizons by learning to understand the shifting needs of communities and how to use cartography to express their ideas. It's much more than a map-making program with one of the focuses of the course being to encourage data collection and the planning of infrastructure. Cities for People: Urban Challenge Hackathon
Offered in partnership with East African Institute, Aga Khan University, and Bits & Bytes Tanzania, Cities for People Urban Challenge Hackathon is designed to facilitate the development and application of technological and infrastructure urban interventions, specific to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This hybrid-online course takes the form of a two day ‘hackathon’ where participants are asked to develop solutions around transportation, informal settlements and waste management in Dar es Salaam. Students will be organized into interdisciplinary teams and provided with virtual and in-person training sessions.

Youth Led Development: Dandora Transformative Model Courts
This hybrid online and offline course is designed to explore and identify creative, informal practices including spaces that facilitate culture and interaction that attempt to overcome fragmentation, poor connectivity and social segregation with consideration to how these might be scaled up to make African cities work better. The course focuses on the Dandora Model Courts as an example of these processes in East Africa. This course will teach critical planning and design principles, as well as technical skills, within the framework of the New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. Each idea provides the basis for data-informed bottom-up, human-centred urban planning and design to enhance environmental, social, political, and economic sustainability within the city.
